Ehrwald sightseeing (Hike Day)

First thing I did was do a quick bit of washing, I had now a few things that needed cleaning and seeing as I was here for the day it would have time to dry. It was a tad overcast to start with but the forecast was that it would be a nice sunny day. Used the toothpaste style tube of washing stuff I had got from Colin and did a "load", hung the things over chairs on my balcony to dry and then headed for breakfast which only opened at 8am.

Sidetrack a bit on my breakfasts. So from now onwards all hotels I was staying at included breakfast. This was good option to have chosen. I was a bit of a skollie and snuck odds and ends into my bag for lunch for the day, this worked pretty well at pretty much every place I stayed at. Here I was a bit confused by the one thing where it wanted you to choose something for dinner, turned out that wasn't included so glad I never bothered. Also a small mistake I made is there were set tables for rooms, so I had to then move to my table when I asked what the story was with the menu. Back at Herr Currin's table I proceeded to enjoy a lekker continental brekkie. I'll include the odd breakfast photo/video to show what was on offer and then to show my padkos.

I took a quick wander down to the Spar and bought a few Radlers to take with me for the day. Yes, they won't keep cold but that's not a biggie, I thought I could just put one in a stream or lake and would cool down but never ended up doing that in the end. I had spoken to reception and got some good info on a walk I could do. A lot of the hotels have area tourist/guest cards which I got, these entitled you to free bus transport and various other small things (not of use to me).

Waited a few minutes for the bus and headed to Brentalm. I met a couple at the cable station and asked them to take a photo for me, they were happy to do so, turned out I'd see them a few other times during the day

I then took the Ehrwalder Almbahn up the mountain to Ehrwalder Alm. This was super novel for me, yes I have been up Table Mountain but a full on Alpine Cable car was new, was snapping away big time.

I had decided on walk to Seebenalm to Seebensee. Was stunning to be walking through the Alps on trails and stuff. At Seebensee (pronounced Say [but with the S said more like a Z, I think] Ben Say). Some of these photos will be from a while later on a walk which you will ready about next.

I took stock and had a bit to eat and then pondered a walk to Coburger Hütte. I could see the Hütte on the mountain ahead and knew it would be quite a hard walk.

I embarked on it. Yes it was pretty tough, took about 40min to get to the top.

Once at Coburger Hütte I relaxed at the beer garden overlooking Drachensee and enjoyed a Radler and a bit more to eat.

Spent about 45min at the top, there was a route I could have maybe done around Drachensee or a different route when there, but decided not to do those. Headed back down the same way I went up. At one stage there was this noise and turned out maybe 50m from me was a rolling boulder, when that happened, you could hear people calling out and others close by also froze and kept eyes wide open. I came across the boulder on the path not long after.

Once I was back down at Seebensee I decided to walk around the other side of the lake back to to the road heading back. Was a nice walk.

For the next video ... it could be recommended to mute your sound.

Headed back towards Ehrwalder Alm via the Wanderweg route, which is the steeper one (and wandering path) and not an easy amble type route.
