By 14:15, after a quick relax, I was changed and ready to head out exploring, the plan was always to spend the afternoon doing that in Imst. I stopped at the Tourist Association and got info on the walk I wanted to do and headed out for that.

I walked up the Rosengartenschlucht route to Hoch-Imst. Was a fantastic walk through a rock canyon along walkways and rock paths and through rock overhangs and caves at times. Super cool. Was a little tough going at times but pretty fine. Took about an hour to get from the bottom all the way to the top.

Next up ... Alpine Coaster. Once at Hoch-Imst I found the cableway office and bought my ticket, which was €15.50 for 1 lift ride up and coaster down, you can buy multiple trips but one was enough for me based on the time I had. I had checked the whole setup online before the trip and it was something I had always planned to do. Basically for anyone who knows Cape Town, next to Willowbridge/Tyger Valley Shopping Center is the place called Cool Runnings which is a toboggan thing, this was the same, but on a much bigger scale. I'll quote some facts from their site:
"The Alpine Coaster in Hoch-Imst is more than just a summer toboggan run: The longest Alpine roller coaster in the world surprises with steep curves, fun waves and spectacular jumps. Pure adrenaline! If that's not a worthwhile destination for an excursion in the Tyrol!
ALPINE COASTER FACTS:
Route length: 3,535m
Altitude mountain station: 1,500m
Altitude difference: 500m
Highest spot: 10m above the ground
Highlight: 450° spin"
I took the 10 minute cable car up, taking pictures all the way and watching people going down on the Alpine Coaster. Cool .. that would be me soon.

Once you get to the top you needed to go to the office and get a ticket with a number which was your position to go down, if for whatever reason you missed your number call you had to go get a number again, which would obviously be at the back of the queue. I got my number which was 900 and they were currently on 660 at the time. Some people up top were pretty upset it seemed that they had been hanging around for ages to go, not knowing they had to get a number, idiots, they told you do that.
The wait time between getting my ticket and going down was about 2 hours, which was fine I knew it was about that from the info at the bottom ticket office. I didn't want to do too much up there walk wise, so I just ordered my self a beer and parked off on a deck chair and enjoyed the sights and tinkered on my phone chatting to friends back home and of course taking way too many photos from the top. Too many photos is never a bad thing, right?

The time passed quick and it was soon enough my time to go. I was super nervous about the ride. You can watch the video and hear me screaming like a banshee out of excitement and maybe a bit of being scared at times etc. There were a few people ahead of me that were going slow so I had to keep on slamming on brakes so as to keep the 20m or so from them (sure I was a lot closer some of the time). Guess that not something you can predict. I wanted to go faster a lot of the time. It was a fantastic experience !!! I bought one of the ride photos at the bottom which I was a bit disappointed with, quality wasn't that great, oh well ... not serious.
After looking around briefly up top I headed back towards Imst. I went a different route down which the tourist office recommended for something different. It was more forest trails vs the canyon like I had come up through. Enjoyed the walk back down. I had turned my phone into low power mode to save battery on the way down and so I've found out after that, it blocks non system things using the GPS and other aspects so the stats were a bit wrong on Strava for the hike, oh well, no biggie.

I got back to the hotel at about 18:30 thoroughly satisfied with my afternoon entertainment. I then looked for a place for dinner. Decided on Della Casa Restaurant/Pizzeria/Lounge. When I had walked past earlier I spied the nice looking pizza's people were having for lunch so I decided it was a good dinner option. Was very tasty.

Got back to the hotel at about 20:00 and just took it easy and called it an early night after uploading stuff and chatting to a few friends.
