Munich to Landsberg Am Lech (Ride Day 1)

METACA22 has now fully kicked off. Was a super hot and humid day, thankfully only this day and the next were very hot, then it cooled down a bit.

I had already made a navigation error after the 2nd turning, LOL. I knew the way but not sure why I did this, maybe I got a bit flustered with the whole adrenaline and also the bike lanes and traffic lights etc. Making navigation mistakes was a trend in getting out of cities, wasn't always the easiest to find my way onto the main bike path to my next place. Wasn't a biggie was able to quickly go "round the other 2 sides of the triangular block" and was back on track.

Was pretty easy to get out of Munich, headed for a long way along side main road with lots off car dealerships, there are full on own bike lanes off the main road, even with their own traffic lights in places.

My 1st real stop was at Ammersee where I stopped for lunch and a bought a Radler. I thought of having a dip in the water, but then what would I do with the bike and my stuff etc. so didn't.

Moved along the coastline a bit and watched a couple having some wedding photos done on the shore and a long board. After a short rest I was on my way again.

At one stage I wanted to see how I was going/if I was on right track just to set my mind at ease (not that I could have gone the wrong way on a straight bike path mind you). So pulled phone out of handle bar box, was unlocking and stuff, it slipped, crashed to the floor and went bouncing down the bike lane, cover came flying off. My heart sunk as I screeched to a stop (was going slowly anyway) to inspect the damage. THANKFULLY nothing broken, a few scuffs on cover and a teeny cosmetic knocks on phone so that was "good". Repeat after me ... Mike never ever ever do that again, stop and check the phone. Never ever ever do that again, stop and check the phone. Never ever ever do that again, stop and check the phone. There ... I said it. I didn't do it again either, except for the 1 video a week or so later on but I was a lot more controlled how I did that. The video above was before.

The route was not overly hilly (that I can recall anyway) even though when you look at the profile it looks like there are hills.

I got into Landsberg Am Lech in OK time and found my Airbnb (the 2nd and last one I used on the broader trip), it was very nice. Offloaded my stuff and relaxed a bit then headed back into town on the bike and did my sightseeing. I could have walked, but my host said was better to take the bike, so I did that, locked it up in town and looked around. Was a nice town to look round, was more of a stepping stone town on my route than a major place I wanted to stay at.
