Schwangau Sightseeing & Alpsee Walk

Woke up on Saturday to a very overcast day, no rain though (at that stage). I got myself moving by 7:30ish and headed to the local shop to get some breakfast and stuff for lunch. I then went back past the hotel to offload a few beers into the fridge, which were for the evening, and to make my lunch before heading out for real for the day sightseeing.

I was heading out again at about 08:30 towards the castles. The cloud was down quite low but could still get the photos I wanted to from a distance. Walked up the hill to Schloss Neuschwanstein, quite a steep walk, and then started snapping away. This time here I decided not to go into Schloss Neuschwanstein as I had been in before and I had also read that a lot of it was closed due to renovations so would have been a bit pointless on both accounts.

On the surrounds there were loads of people there so getting photos taken by someone was easy as others always want one taken of them, so its a "I'll take for you if you take for me" type story. I did take some with my Gorilla Pod mount thing as well. Got some really nice photos before the weather closed in.

I headed to Marienbrücke which I thought was closed but actually it was open - bonus !!! So got some nice pictures from there as well looking back at the castle and also some from the other side with the bridge and the castle in the shots. By this time the weather was pretty yuck and couldn't even see the castle hardly, so was really good I had made an early start and got my shots in.

Following that I made my way down from the castle to Alpsee. I had wanted to do a walk over the bridge and around the hillside/mountainside overlooking Schloss Neuschwanstein but with the weather that wasn't possible.

So I decided to do a loop around Alpsee. Was a really nice walk and stunning to see the blue water and amble along the lakeside with the forest on the one side of you and water to the other.

Started the walk at about 11:30 and finished about 2hrs later at Hohenschwangau (castle not town, everything is in Hohenschwangau town). Looked around the grounds there for a while.

Got back to my hotel at 15:15ish and enjoyed a refreshing beer. I then took a wander around to the other shop and looked around there at the various things on the shelves.

There is another Schwangau post but will end of town general stuff here first.

The next morning I was due to leave Schwangau, but wasn't going to do so without my pfand, so saw the shop opened at 7am so walked the short distance and was there 07:20ish and got that back at the hotel, packed up, and was on my way by 08:30ish for the next ride day.
