Lizelle had taken the Tuesday leave, and Colin had taken that day as well, Colin had also taken the Wednesday as we were heading out together. See the next post for that. Today the plan was to go do a hike at Wendelstein.
We took the Wendelsteinbahn/Wendelstein cog railway up to the top and then was sightseeing at the top.

There were so many great views to see, was a bit hazy off in the distance so bit of a pity but generally was fine.

There was a astronomical observatory up at the top which was cool to see from the outside, I joked with people back at work if I could claim S&T for the trip to visit a observatory overseas. I also got eduroam connection at the top which was pretty cool.
We did a quick walk on a route called Panoramaweg which took us maybe an hour or so.

After that we checked out the Wendelsteinhöhle (which were some ice caves, not quite as big as the Markschellenberg ones).

Lizelle & Me in Wendelsteinhöhle, was hard to get a good photo, as so many people, so little space

After that we had a tasty lunch (oh and beer) at the restaurant at the top before embarking on the walk down.
The walk down was super steep, we walked down to Bayrischzell.

Strava recorded route
Distance: 5.85km
Moving Time: 1:58:39
Pace: 20:17/km
Elevation: 17m
We stopped at Bergcafe Siglhof which made a good pit stop near the bottom for drinks so had a beer and then checked the train times back, worked out we could just make the one train if we hussled, so we did that, the train was a little late as well so we got there in ample time.

Tookabout 2hrs to get down the about 5.5km or so and we lost about 1000m of elevation, Strava didn't record that as it want's to do up and down it seems. We got the train (we were at the 1st stop) at the end of the line so managed top get seats, it got really full as we went on. Was a crying baby in our carriage which made the journey back very painful. Not sure why the mother didn't give it a pacifier.

At the station, pointing out where we walked from
When back in Munich we decided to go to an Italian Restaurant called Il Galeone for dinner. Had a really nice pizza from there and then we had a super tasty ice cream from this super popular place called Sarcletti was a big queue outside even though it was 9pm on a Tuesday evening.
