Wrapup

This was an amazing trip. So different from anything else I've ever done in the past. Who would have thought that from not having a bike until the 15 December 2021, I'd now have done something like this.

I was quite anxious and nervous for the whole "take you life with you on a bike", but it worked out well in the end. I had no issues. Bike wise, there are so many people with eBikes riding around on bike paths etc. I'd say that the majority of other people I saw had eBikes vs normal pedal bikes. I think I had 2 close calls accident wise, first was when I was going from a pavement to road, there was a lip and the bike almost slid from under me, and then another when was a super steep downhill section on dirt/gravel was breaking the back wheel started sliding out, almost, but I caught it - whew !!!

I can't thank Colin & Lizelle enough for all the help and everything they did to help me make my holiday amazing. From accommodation to advice to paying for things when out and about if there wasn't a card machine etc. I hope I was able to pay them back in some way with the pressies I took over and the meal out etc. oh ... and if they are ever in Cape Town ... they have a place to stay for sure !!

Did some sums/stats (think they are accurate enough) from my cycle/hike/walks (including all days away incl last day overseas and 1st day back):

Cycles:
• Distance: 620km (595km on the main cycle bit)
• Elevation: 4560m

Hikes:
• Distance: 108km
• Elevation: 4066m

Walking (excl hike km, so other sightseeing/walking around):
• Distance: 345km (11.9km daily average)

Weight wise ... from the start of my travels to the end
• I lost 1kg, so I didn't suffer from all the carbs (bread and beers) or rather ... I worked them off.

I would most certainly think of doing something like this again.
